Built in 1923, this was one of two of Windsor’s grand downtown hotels, along with the Norton-Palmer.
A decline in the hotel’s occupancy as rooms became small and outdated, led to the demise of both the Prince Edward and the Norton Palmer. The hotel eventually closed and was demolished. It was replaced in the late 1970’s by the Scotiabank building that today can be found on the north east corner of Ouellette and Park.

I recall – as a young lad – going in to the lobby of that grand old building. And I think the CN? telegraph office was located there or next door, with the telegraphers tapping out messages using Morse code.
