Rising south of the current City Hall on the site of the old provincial courthouse, is what will become Windsor’s 4th City Hall. The new building is standing tall over its neighbour to the north, which opened in 1957. Despite all the complaints about the current City Hall being too small, the building was actually designed to support two additional floors on top, although that expansion never happened.
When the current City Hall was under construction, city offices were relocated to Chatham Street temporarily, while the second city hall was demolished, and the third one rose on the same site. If you check the parking lot on Pelissier St, just south of Chatham St, across from Villains Beastro, you’ll see old remnants of that time, with some of the painted signs on the brick wall for various executives, like the tax collector.
Have a good weekend everyone, see you back here next week.
