Going through more old photographs lately, and I came upon these shots of the long gone retirement home that was located along University Ave at the south east corner with Aylmer.
My memory may be foggy but seem to recall some kind of scandal at this home that caused it to close or to at least hasten its closure, but I can’t remember what it was called, so I was unable to find any old news reports.
This place was demolished about 2006/2007, and today the entire city block remains vacant.

There was a scandal about mistreating of residents. Force feeding, limited care per resident, residents left in the hallways and not in there rooms, and more.
Scandal aside… it’s a shame this place isn’t around anymore… would have been good for student housing seeing as how the U is expanding downtown.
