A view looking north on Drouillard from the intersection with Whelpton, the older photo from about 1959, shows the same view (Whelpton was then known as Charles), a few buildings in the older shot are no longer around, but the large one north of the Temple Tavern was only lost in the last decade or so.

I remember working there in the mid ’80s on the second floor of the old National Bank building. It used to be Floyd Zalev’s office, one of the busiest real estate lawyers in town at that time. We used to close upwards of 50 deals at the end of every month which for the time was an obscene amount in those days. It was so hectic back then using typewriters to type everything in triplicate. I also remember when shots rang out one sunny day from someone down on the street that smashed one of the upper windows where (thankfully) was one of our filing rooms and no one was hurt, although there was a guy shot in the leg that was standing on the street. I remember it like yesterday. Oh and Mongo Murph’s next door had their 10 cent wing specials on Fridays. Those were the days!!
