1280 Ouellette Avenue

1280 Ouellette Avenue, built in the early 1960’s as the Bali-Hi Motor Hotel. A twin to a second Bali-Hi across the river in Detroit. The second photo is the only one I ever took of the building, that one dates to 2001, and the final years of the building before the office section was demolished. In 2003, the Iris Inn, supportive housing for persons with persistent serious mental illness,  opened in the building. A newer square office structure was built to replace the original mid-century designed office building. In the last years of operation, I recall the Bavarian Inn operating out of this location.
